Every Last Drop - NON FICTION
In the developed world, if you want a drink of water you just turn on a tap or open a bottle. But for millions of families worldwide, finding clean water is a daily challenge, and kids are often the ones responsible for carrying water to their homes. Every Last Drop looks at why the world’s water resources are at risk and how communities around the world are finding innovative ways to quench their thirst and water their crops. Maybe you’re not ready to drink fog, as they do in Chile, or use water made from treated sewage, but you can get a low-flush toilet, plant a tree, protect a wetland or just take shorter showers. Every last drop counts!

ReplyDeleteMy rating for 'Every Last Drop' is 8/10 because it showed me some cool things. For example, it talked a lot about the fact that water isn't everywhere, and not everyone can get it. I liked the way the author divided the book with chapters, which is kind of unusual for a non-fiction book. I also liked the titles of the chapters and paragraphs, for example one of them is titled ''Go with the flow''. I found a few of the paragraphs a little dull, but I got through the book pretty easily. I think it's pretty cool that the author got to go to a place were water wasn't easy to get. Though, the author did get sick there because of the water, so that's unfortunate for them.

ReplyDeleteI rate this book a 8 out of 10 because a learned so many things like how creative some people are by the ideas they come up with to get their water because clean was not that accessable to them. Can you imagine having to carry really heavy bucket of water on your head for at least an hour for some families, but some of these kids can avoid that by makeing stuff like "Go whith the flow". I like the way the author divided the book with chapters. But although I did learn quite a bit the book coul still be a little boring at times.I for one will never take water for granted.

ReplyDeleteMy rating fore this book is 9 out of ten. This book rely opens up your eyes and makes you realise how lucky we are to have fresh water every day. Now every time I drink a glass of water I know that I will never take it for granted. I loved learning about the creative ways that people use to get water but it is also very sad to know that their are a lot of people in the world thirsty.

ReplyDeleteI give this book 8/10. I did not really know that in Peru so many families have to walk miles to get water, it is a very special thing that we can just turn on the tap and water comes out. Once I read the book I learned why the book was called every last drop. It is because families are trying to get every last drop of water. When the guy said if it was not for his friend boring a truck he could have died from drinking the water. So think, so many kids and adults could die. I liked when they talked about the different way kids are getting water. I liked the little playground that was used to pump water.

ReplyDeleteI give this book 7\10. I found it sad that so many places can't get water and the water they do get is disgusting and dirty. I also didn't know that people all around the world have to walk so many miles to get their water. I liked that they had tips like " take shorter showers" or "plant a tree" to help. It's funny that in Chile they drink fog which only has little bit of water in it. I think water is very yummy and I can't imagine not having any delicious water to drink like they do in so many countries of the world. I learned a lot of new things but at times the book wasn't very interesting.

ReplyDeleteI give Every Last Drop a 8/10 because I learned a lot about water. I found the fact that in the olden days a kid would bring water for his class was interesting because I would have thought that the school would have a well. I think that more awareness should be raised about how kids have to walk far for their water. I found that the 'compost toilet' was interesting because it would probably work and because it's kind of like an out-house.
