The Madman of Piney Woods - FICTION

Benji and Red couldn't be more different. They aren't friends. They don't even live in the same town. But their fates are entwined. A chance meeting leads the boys to discover that they have more in common than meets the eye. Both of them have encountered a strange presence in the forest, watching them, tracking them. Could the Madman of Piney Woods be real? In a tale brimming with intrigue and adventure, Christopher Paul Curtis returns to the vibrant world he brought to life in Elijah of Buxton. Here is another novel that will break your heart -- and expand it, too.

The Mad Man of Piney Woods was an enjoyable book so I give it a 7/10. In my opinion it could use some more humour because having your Grandma chasing you down the street is funny, but aside from that there were no other funny parts. I did like the part where the Madman was dying but not because it was sad but really brought out the real personality in Spencer, Benji, Patience and Stubby. I also like how you get to learn about the Buxton's history like how the civil war and the Mad Man were related. This book is for anyone who wants an interesting historic book.
